Pain management

Headache treatment

Acupuncture has been used as a means for chronic and acute pain relief and management for thousands of years. But more recently, growing bodies of research are supporting this modality for the treatment of many ailments and conditions.

The Journal of Pain published a review of pain management patient data in which researchers concluded that “acupuncture is effective for the treatment of chronic pain, with treatment effects persisting over time.”

Back pain, neck pain, headaches and more

If you are suffering from some form of pain, acupuncture may be a solution! It has been shown to be effective in managing migraine headaches, back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, osteoarthritis, musculoskeletal pain, neuropathic pain, and more.

Acupuncture has also been used to treat a variety of conditions in addition to pain management. Its popularity continues to grow, with an increasing number of people in the United States turning to acupuncture when other forms of medicine and/or prescription drugs fail.

How does acupuncture work to relieve pain?

The premise behind the technique is that the stimulation of specific points on the body signal the release of a flow of energy, which travels through “meridians,” alleviating forms of distress and discomfort in those areas.

Another way to explain it, a nerve is stimulated by the needle, which prompts the brain to release neurotransmitters. These chemicals then send out pain-killing endorphins to the affected areas of the body. There is also evidence that pain is reduced in in lasting ways due to changes in connective tissue cells around the acupoints.

Mobile and office treatments for Managing Pain

West Denver location: 805 Raleigh St. Denver, CO 80204

Mobile Acupuncture: I offer mobile acupuncture treatments for people who cannot access my main office. I generally work within the Denver-metro area but you can inquire if you are just outside of it.

Treatment rates and other questions:

I have standard rates and a sliding scale for treatments. The sliding scale exists to be accessible for those who cannot afford standard rates and/or for those who are committed to regular treatment. For initial treatments, I highly recommend doing an hour and a half treatment in order to complete a thorough verbal intake.

My rates, particularly the low end of my sliding scale are lower than going rates in Denver so I can work with a larger range of income brackets and to encourage regular treatments because I believe the best results occur that way.
