What is Acupuncture?
An ancient system of complementary techniques, acupuncture uses the stimulation of certain points on the body (also known as acu-points) with very small sterile needles. Ear acupuncture, foot acupuncture, and other modern acupuncture treatments can be used to balance the body for improved health and fertility, reduced pain, and to treat mental, physical, and emotional imbalances. From its roots in China thousands of years ago, acupuncture is now widely practiced in the West. Check out my FAQs to learn more and see what to expect at your first appointment!
THERAPIES CUSTOMIZED FOR YOU, THE PATIENT!
Each patient is unique and requires treatment tailored to their needs. I use pulse diagnosis, conversational understanding of your symptoms, and other sensory techniques to guide my understanding of what points and techniques to do. If there are areas you don’t want needled or cupped, I can avoid them. Your feedback is always welcomed and helps guide my treatments.
pain management
The World Health Organization has determined that acupuncture is proven as an effective treatment for a wide range of body aches, pains, and other ailments. If you are suffering from chronic, acute, back, or neck pain, and in need of relief, acupuncture may be able to help.
Cupping Therapy
Cupping utilizes a number of small cups placed on the body with heat, resulting in a vacuum effect with the skin. This brings fresh blood to the region, promoting circulation and the flow of lymph, eliminating toxins, loosening tight muscles, and reducing inflammation.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion or “moxa” technique provides the body with gentle warmth to specific areas, encouraging circulation and blood-flow to the desired regions. It has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) throughout China and Asia for thousands of years to reduce and manage pain.
